We had our Chinese Banquet...

at West Lake Restaurant, Sunway Hotel, hosted by V's parents. It could fit only a total of 23 tables (of 10 each) at most but we did like the fact that it was cosy (if you can count 210 people at a wedding as cosy).

The entrance to the restaurant was quite grand, a lot of marble and gold lettering. Once you got inside the "waiting" area, it was decorated with Oriental paintings, dark, glossy wooden furniture, red and cream carpets and wallpaper. It had quite a heavy Oriental feel. Bearing that in mind, we didn't do much for decorations, except ensuring that the hotel florist provided us with simple red flower arrangements. This went pretty well with my Wedding Planner's hand made red and white decorations as well.

Most people spent some time taking some photos at our Photo Booth, tasting the delicious cupcakes at the Candy Corner and briefly looking at our pre-wedding photos. Others spent some time chatting with relatives and friends at the waiting area, lounging on the leather couches provided. It was great being able to mingle with our guests before the dinner started (bear in mind, everyone was horrendously late due to the thunderstorm).

The photo frames and pin boards were from Ikea, and the postcards and signs were designed by my Wedding Planner's sister. We painted the plain wooden photo frames with red paint. The stationery and red and white frames matched our invites perfectly, thanks to my Wedding Planner and her sister's creativity!

Absolutely loved the fact that we could reuse the decorations for all the events.

The main table was decorated quite beautifully. Instead of a large floral arrangement, there were several small clusters of red flowers, clear glass vases and candles. Against the white napkins and red tablecloths, the sight simply took my breath away. On the guest tables, there was a simple vase with red roses and carnations. Added a pop of red amongst the cream tablecloths and white dinnerware.

Probably the only thing I would have changed about the decor would have been the colourful paper lanterns that West Lake absolutely REFUSED to remove. Those noticeable lanterns came in a myriad of blue, green, pink, yellow colours. I'm pretending they weren't there!

West Lake also provided door gifts / wedding favours in the form of chocolates. Unfortunately, we had not much choice in terms of the packaging (OK there was only ONE choice) but it did match the theme!
