Trying to find...

...a bride and groom cake topper was a real challenge.

Firstly, personalised cake toppers cost a bomb, anything from £35 and above. Sure, they may last a long time but I'm not willing to fork out £100 for a bride and groom replica that look exactly like us. We have photos for that!

Next, speciality cake toppers also cost a bomb. Princess Leia and Hans Solo, £60 and above! Tried looking for ones that were "geek" related, expensive and did not look like us at all!

Finally, it was just generally a struggle to find any cake topper that looked remotely like us. We tried finding Chinese/Oriental cake toppers, and this is what we found was the full Chinese traditional attire on very pale un-Chinese looking human beings.

We finally found ones that we absolutely love! Unfortunately, they may not be a good match for the REAL wedding cake. Hmm...but here are our favourites:
We met snowboarding, so we thought this was an apt portrayal of us on top of the wedding cake. Unfortunately, neither of the snowboarders look even faintly Oriental.
Very traditional and very cute, not great workmanship but fit the bill in terms of affordability and at least they have black hair!
My other half absolutely loved this range of Koseki dolls. I suspect because they are Japanese and of course, Ninja Warriors. It's hard to talk sense into him when he is this excited! If you're interested, check the Ukido Ninja Warriors out. There is even a Warrior Code that the dolls adhere to!

"The warrior shows great courage, honour, bravery, tolerance, loyalty and respect and fights for what is right and good. The power of the tiger, the strength of the dragon, the silence of the snake and the meekness of the mouse must unite in the heart and spirit of the warrior to ensure success in battle, and peace of mind."
We looked at a few but this one, Takuma, the Loyal One, seemed to be the best match to the Bride. Please see below.
For the other half of the bride and groom cake topper, well, what could be more appropriate than Kimmi Dolls? The geishas looked absolutely lovely but a bit serious and sombre and the size wasn't quite right. So we looked for the Kimmi Junior Dolls instead.

Introducing Yazzy, who says "Best Friends Forever!. Talk about kawaii!!!
Yes, we decided to get Takuma and Yazzy as keepsakes, and perhaps sneak them on top of our fake wedding cake at our Chinese Banquet. No one will notice them but we will know they are there, sharing in our special day. And we get to bring them home as a lovely reminder of our celebration! Just can't wait!!!
