My baby sister got hitched!

So that's the end to weddings for awhile, until another unsuspecting relative gets married. My husband and I travelled to Australia for the first wedding and  boy it was posh! Funnily enough, that's exactly how I've always envisioned my baby sister's wedding - elegant, expensive! and very English.

Her Melbourne ceremony and dinner venue was none other than Butleigh Wootton. Follow the link for photos of the venue.

The registration and exchange of vows ceremony started off at 530pm, followed closely by cocktails and then dinner. During the ceremony, the celebrant shared the story of how both my sister and her husband met. They then exchanged vows and rings, signed the wedding registration book and certificates. The ceremony venue was in a really nice garden area, complete with a lovely fountain and beautiful seating arrangements. The overall decorations (chandeliers, table settings etc.) were very Victorian.

Just in case you're wondering where she got her lovely dress, it's a Mori Lee creation (product code 2511 if I'm not mistaken). She wore a tiara and her hair up to complete the "princess of the day" look!


Epic shot of the wedding dress, which was a lot heavier than it looked. This was a heart-stopping moment as if the dress fell, it would have fallen on top of the wedding cake which was right below!

Dinner was a delicious 3 course meal accompanied with music from the 70s and 80s lent an intimate mood to the venue. Did I mention the amazing spiral staircase? My sister looked absolutely breathtaking when she was walking down the stairs. She also had a lovely wedding cake, complete with custom cake toppers.

The lovely thing about starting the wedding so late in the day was that it was very relaxed. My sister got her make up done after yum char (I know most brides wouldn't have yum char/dim sum just before their wedding, but my sister is not "most brides"!), then took a number of photos while her guests were arriving for the ceremony (which started very punctually at 530pm). Her photographer was Alvin Wong, who is incidentally also a Malaysian guy who has settled down in Melbourne.

Of course there was a bit of a panic moment when she realised she forgot to put on her veil, a mere 2 minutes before the ceremony was supposed to start...

The flowers...I love the little green tufts! Which is actually a type of flower too.

But the wedding in Australia went off with a hitch. The bridal couple surprised their guests with a very romantic, first dance and I can't wait for the video (footage was taken by my husband on his camcorder).
